$20 for $45 Worth of Food and Drink from Tuesday-Friday OR $20 for $40 Worth of Food and Drink on Saturday

Dining out is a work of art; since your partner has chosen the last four “adequate” restaurants, it is time to show them up. You’ve tried way too many tastes of Paris, but they were all missing a certain “je ne sais quoi;” it’s time to draw up a proper game-plan that isn’t limited to frites and crepes. Perhaps you should cross several borders and check out what the Mediterranean is cooking; they offer more than just shwarma and tzaziki.

Hip catz roll through this alley. Appropriately named, music lovers and food enthusiasts have made Alleycatz a popular dining and party destination. A menu with Mediterranean flair features dishes such as steak cooked to perfection and gourmet risottos, and a fun martini line up bears names like “Orgasmic Catz,” combining raspberry vodka, Cointreau, Champagne, lime and cranberry. Get an authentic “supper club” experience, and watch as the venue fills up with folks out to bust a few moves, every Thursday through Saturday night. After dinner, a live band and DJ let lose an infectious set of funk, soul, R&B and reggae. Salsa Mondays offer free lessons, and on Tuesdays stop by for live jazz. Jazz and Blues fans, Wednesdays are for you. In true Alleycatz style, these Wednesdays are where new talent like popular jazz singer Matthew Aaron Dusk began their career. Warm and convivial in red oak and exposed brick, Alley Catz attracts regulars from all over the GTA. Corporate & Private Functions with pre-set or custom menus are welcome.

The Mediterranean regions may not be as recognized for their cuisine as for their philosophy, but their food sure tastes better than the Socratic Method. Let Alleycatz Jazz Bar surpass your dining needs and give you that culinary edge.

“I’ve been to this place several times past several years. And each experience has been pleasant. No silly decors or odd layouts, just a flat open dance floor in the middle where you can just have fun. No columns or bar tables obstructing the crowd. The crowd always has been mostly in mid-20s to mid-30s every time I was there. Good mix. They are rather easy-going. Not pretentious, flaky or showy. It is an easy atmosphere to just be yourself and have a good time. What I like about this place is the music. It ranges anywhere from oldies to pop, rock to R&B. The bands and DJs do an amazing job mashing up those songs. Their interpretations and covers of music are quite interesting as well. It really gets you in the party mood. There are some tables where you can just sit down and chill away from the crowd. When parking, just park on the street since spots become readily available (free after 9:00PM). If not, just drive up north a bit and you will find plenty of spots.”

“Alleycatz turned out to be a great choice of destination especially since there are not really many other options that I know of around this area. Once you hear the music you will be in love. That night there was a live band playing and as mentioned in a previous review I do not think I heard any jazz at all. The band and DJ rotated every half hour and if I had to rate this place on music it gets a total five stars! The DJ was good and the band was awesome doing covers of various tracks to keep the crowd dancing. My favourite track of the night was Lady by Mojo and they did it complete justice! The place itself is nice, has adequate seating and a small dance floor where you will just have to find your space and claim it. Bar staff are best I have experienced in Toronto since I arrived just wish the drinks were not so over-priced. The crowd was fairly mixed with mature and young. I would love to experience the same sort of music in a proper club venue but I doubt that would happen. I would definitely go here again.”
