BBQ For The Homeless

In this video, we went to Downtown Atlanta, where we grilled out for homeless people around Centennial Olympic Park. It was a fun way to both interact and get to know them, as well as feed them. We all had an awesome time.

We hope that by putting these videos on YouTube, some of you are inspired to go out and do the same types of things.

Air Force Vet Overcomes PTSD and Sleep Disorder With Medical Foods

Air Force Vet Overcomes PTSD and Sleep Disorder With Medical Foods

(NewsUSA) – After serving four years in the Army and six in the U.S. Air Force, Christi J. Cook of Harbor Beach, Mich. left the military the same way many service members do — proud and dutiful, yet struggling with a wrecked body and a civilian life she had never known.

For Cook, joining the military was the plan since adolescence, the desire to serve embedded in her genes dating back to her ancestors in the Revolutionary War. But she wasn’t prepared to face the condition of her body once she left the military.

While in the Air Force, Cook suffered a hit from a scud missile overseas that resulted in exposure to an unidentified toxic nerve agent. The physical consequences were widespread for the young woman in her mid-twenties: heart arrhythmia, memory loss, bladder irregularity, gastrointestinal issues, arthritis, migraines, severe insomnia and unbearable muscle pain.

After years of physical therapy, antibiotics and prescription medication that provided little to no relief, Cook couldn’t sleep for more than 45 minutes at a time, sit in a car for prolonged periods or enjoy a day without debilitating pain. It wasn’t until a year ago that she finally found an effective way to cope with her symptoms.

“I was on a lot of antibiotics, a lot of pain killers, and none of it really worked. A lot of it masked the pain, but it was just like a boomerang. It came back and it usually came back worse,” explained the 42-year-old, now a mother of two. “I tried so many things, and then when I started taking medical foods Sentra PM and AM, it was the first time in decades that I had any energy.”

Sentra PM and Sentra AM are FDA-regulated, prescription-only medical foods that provide the precursors to the neurotransmitters needed for restorative sleep, while reducing fatigue and managing the increased nutritional requirements of fibromyalgia, respectively.

Medical foods, like those developed by Targeted Medical Pharma, Inc., help patients meet the increased nutritional requirements of chronic disease, including pain syndromes, peripheral neuropathy, hypertension, obesity and sleep and cognitive disorders.

By the time Cook discovered a solution, she was battling multiple diagnoses: post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), minor depression, fibromyalgia, traumatic arthritis and migraines.

“I get hyper-vigilant. I don’t like to be in a crowd, I kind of panic in a crowd. Even going to church or grocery shopping was extremely difficult,” Cook said, describing her PTSD symptoms, many of which only grew worse.

But Cook’s insomnia was the most challenging — until she found medical foods. In less than a week, Cook said, the tension began to ebb away. Now, it’s the only thing she takes, and she recommends it to everyone. Learn more about Rx-only medical foods at www.targetedmedicalpharma.com.

12 Independence Day Quotes to Celebrate the 4th of July

The 4th of July is right around the corner and what better way to celebrate than with some inspirational and patriotic Independence Day quotes? For those who are true to the Red, White and Blue, here are twelve patriotic Independence Day quotes to help you celebrate the birth of our nation.

  1. “He that would make his own liberty secure, must guard even his enemy from opposition; for if he violates this duty he establishes a precedent that will reach himself.” ~ Thomas Paine

  2. “You have to love a nation that celebrates its independence every July 4, not with a parade of guns, tanks, and soldiers who file by the White House in a show of strength and muscle, but with family picnics where kids throw Frisbees, the potato salad gets iffy, and the flies die from happiness. You may think you have overeaten, but it is patriotism.” ~ Erma Bombeck

  3. “Those who won our independence believed liberty to be the secret of happiness and courage to be the secret of liberty.” ~ Louis D. Brandeis

  4. “America is much more than a geographical fact. It is a political and moral fact – the first community in which men set out in principle to institutionalize freedom, responsible government, and human equality.” ~ Adlai Stevenson

  5. “For what avail the plough or sail, or land or life, if freedom fail?” ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson

  6. “Those who deny freedom to others deserve it not for themselves.” ~ Abraham Lincoln

  7. “We must be free not because we claim freedom, but because we practice it.” ~ William Faulkner

  8. “As we have throughout this century, we will lead with the power of our example, but be prepared, when necessary, to make an example of our power.” ~ Bill Clinton

  9. “America did not invent human rights. In a very real sense … human rights invented America.” ~ Jimmy Carter

  10. “America is a tune. It must be sung together.” ~ Gerald Stanley Lee

  11. “This nation will remain the land of the free only so long as it is the home of the brave.” ~ Elmer Davis

  12. “If our country is worth dying for in time of war let us resolve that it is truly worth living for in time of peace.” ~ Hamilton Fish

As we celebrate with picnics, fireworks and barbecues this July fourth, let’s remember exactly what it is we’re celebrating. Bravery. Triumph. Freedom. A nation that bows to no other and protects the rights and freedoms of those that live within its borders. These twelve Independence Day quotes are a good start.
